Affordable HDTV
The time has come where HDTV equipment and production equipment have become affordable. High Deifinition televisions have been on the market for a number of years now and are starting to become inexpensive enough for everyone to afford, at least one. But, for those of us who like to create videos, HDTV production equipment has been out of reach economically, until now.

Professional HDV Camcorders
Sony and JVC are leading the way with their new line of HDV equipment. New compression methods now make it possible to record High Definition video onto a conventional DV or Digital Video videotape. Of course you will need a special HDV video camera, but this is a big breakthrough.
There are a few models I would like to mention here and you will most likely find them listed below with reviews from people who own and use them.
Sony HVR-Z1U Professional HDV Mini Camcorder. The HVR-Z1U is Sony's brand new HDV camcorder. It is a 3 CCD model with native 16:9 support and 1440 x 1080 resolution, 12x zoom, image stabilization, and 2.5 (16:9 aspect ratio) color LCD viewfinder. It is one bad boy.
JVC JY-HD10U Digital Hi-Vision HD Camcorder. JVC is also a part of the professional HDV camcorder market with their JY-HD10U Hi-Vision HD camcorder. The sigle CCD HD10U has native 16:9 support in the 1280x720P mode (30 frames per second). This camcorder will also handle standard Mini DV tape recording at the 4:3 aspect ratio.
Consumer HDV Camcorders
Sony HDR-FX1 Prosumer 3-CCD HDV Mini DV Camcorder. This was the first 1080i camcorder to hit the market and sets the bar for consumer grade HDV camcorders. 1080 interlaced lines of resolution (1440x1080), 3 chip Super HAD CCDs, and a 16:9 aspect mode for recording in widescreen. This baby has it all.
JVC GR-HD1 HD Mini DV Camcorder. HE GR HD1 Camcorder with it's 1/3" Progressive Scan CCD will do 1280x720P and is almost the size of a normal consumer camcorder. It is really incredible to see how small they were able to make this HDV camcorder.
