Bulova

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

I think when I was a little guy rummaging around through my parents’ stuff, I came across my dad’s Bulova watch. It was a gift from someone or the company he worked for at the time I think. It was bulky stainless steel and it had an olive green face. I will always remember the color of the face. I was really more like a puke green, whatever that is, than anything. But, you could tell that the watch was different.

Today, Bulova watches are still at the forefront of the fashion world. Their masculine, bulky steel designs are all the rage today and will likely be for the foreseeable future.

Bluetooth Keyboards

I just saw the new Nokia SW-8U (I believe) which will work with my Nokia 6620 smartphone. The problem is that they are selling it for $150! What is that all about? The phone can be had on eBay for about $150. Why would I pay that much for a keyboard? I believe that I saw an emulator for the 6620 that will allow me to use other Bluetooth keyboards. What some may not know is that there are different Bluetooth profiles out there and you need to understand what profiles your devices support before purchasing Bluetooth accessories for them. You may also want to consider this before making the initial purchase of your Bluetooth enabled device.

The Lumbar Extender for Lower Back Pain

Monday, May 2nd, 2005

Ok, so I must be getting older because I have trouble sitting in a chair for most of my day. It is not a slipped disc (I don’t really know what that means), but it is tightness in my lower back muscles that can be stretched out, if I weren’t so lazy. When it gets bad, I lay on the flor and stretch out my lower back. I can feel the muscles that run into my lower back and hamstrings stretch and then things are pretty much back to normal. When I get pain though, it doesn’t feel like my muscles are tight, it feels like someone is driving a spike into my back on one of my discs. So, I was on the plane this weekend and I noticed an item called the Lumbar Extender which claims to stretch your your back and straighten your spine. I don’t know about the latter, but it ceratinly appears that it would do a pretty good job of stretching out your back and it has a slot for your spine. You can also adjust the lumbar extender to one of three positions. I could see myself using this device to stretch out my lower back multiple times a day for one reason…it looks very simple and comfortable. I have one on order so I will be sure to report back here how it goes.

BTW, if you have a good device for lower back pain, please leave a comment here, I would like to hear what works for people and what their symptoms are.

Snow Blowers Reviewed

Monday, May 2nd, 2005

Just when you thought it was safe to put away the winter clothes, snow shovels and scrapers…it snows again. This year has definitely been a strange one for just about every part of the country. From California’s record rainfall (which is still going on today) to the lack of snow in Canada’s hotspots, the weather in North America has been nothing short of strange. So, maybe now is the time to look into buying a snow blower to have on hand for the rest of the 2005 season and be ready for 2006’s winter. There are some great deals on snow blowers and snow throwers like the popular models from Toro that are very inexpensive and built to last. If you have not looked at a snow blower and have no idea what to look for, don’t worry. Check out our reviews pages to find out what people who use the different models of snow blowers have to say about them, their pros and their cons. Then you can make an informed decision instead of a blind one.
