Joggging Strollers a Plenty

Monday, March 28th, 2005

It is almost springtime here in the Bay Area and that means that the Marina Green is soon going to be filled with mothers and their children in jogging strollers of all kinds. I just noticed that there are jogging strollers for two and even three kids. I am all for taking the baby out for a run, but pushing three kids while running has to be quite a workout…but, I guess that is the point. SafeTech, InStep and Schwinn (the bike company) all make some really high-tech jogging strollers that are built with some neat features to make your life a little bit easier when running with the kids.

Dewalt DW 735

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

The Dewalt DW 735 planer is not your father’s Oldsmobile. This is a real finish planer that can be used as a shop fixture or thrown in the back of your work truck and used on site. Dewalt tools have become synonymous with quality and durability and DeWalt has been very good (from what we have heard) about replacing units that are under warranty or suffer from a strange defect. You can read more about the DeWalt DW735 planer on our DW735 Reviews page. There you can also see what other people who own and use the DW 735 planer have to say about it.

LifeCare is a company that specializes in rehabilitation products to help people recovering from sports related injuries to recover faster and more thoroughly. With their ultra-modern products like the motorized Oxy Cycle to the Oxy Stepper, LifeCare produces some of the most durable, quality rehabilitation products on the market today. When my, soon to be, father in-law had his knee operated on last year, he was told that a motorized Oxy Cycle could help him to recover more quickly and make his knee much stronger, if used in the manner prescribed. It was amazing to see how quickly he returned to his active lifestyle, even at age 63. So, if you are looking for a great line of rehabilitation equipment or a way to exercise when in the home or office, check out these great deals on LifeCare products.

Rosette Cutters and Reviews

Friday, March 11th, 2005

Building your own window and door casement trim can be easier than most people think, with the right tools. However, one detail that will set your work apart from others is the use of rosette blocks at the top corners of your doorways. Having a quality rosette cutter bit for your drill press or router will make your life easy and make you look like Norm Abrahams at the same time.

Makita Miter Saws

Monday, March 7th, 2005

When it comes to power hand tools, Makita tools are tough to beat. I remember when cordless drills first came on the market. Makita’s name became synonymous with cordless drills, and for good reason. The Makita’s worked perfectly. You could drop your dril from the top of a 12 foot ladder onto a concrete floor and it wouldn’t even think about breaking. I still have my original Makita cordless drills, it is amazing that they still work just as well as they did the first day out. But, Makita makes other great power tools as well. One of my favorites is my Makita compound miter saw. I have yet to find something that this saw is not good at. It is very accurate and the build quality on this saw is second to none. It is relatively light weight and has given me years of trouble free operation. I am sure there are “better” saws out there, but my Makita gets top marks from me. But, you don’t have to take my word for it alone, check out what other Makita miter saw owners have to say about their saws on our reviews page.

RCA Cable Modem

Thursday, March 3rd, 2005

Just installed my new cable modem service and am ditching the DSL. It was good timing I guess as the 1 year deal for Yahoo! DSL for $27/mo. had just expired and Comcast finally decided to upgrade our neighborhood for cable modem service. That was just silly that they did not offer it in this neighborhood in San Francisco, but anyway. So, I just checked on my download speed at one of the online broadband speed tests and this little RCA cable modem pulled down 1.3Mbit/sec which ain’t too shabby. Hopefully that will increase more in the future, but it is a huge improvement over my DSL line which only saw around 300Kb/sec on a good day. I am interested to see if it makes a difference on my vonage line. I think I can up my vonage bandwidth usage to help that as well. Anyway, I have been a big fan of cable modem service since Time Warner introduced it in San Diego back in the mid 90’s (I used to live there). I was pretty bummed to find out I could only get DSL here last year.
